Another amazing grab on ebay: these highly sought-after (?) vinyl chibi figures. According to image search, there are two sets: player 1 palette, and player 2 palette. Naturally this means I gotta find the other set or my inner collector will never forgive me.
They are truly adorable, and like the Mighty Max inspired mini-playset bootlegs, are clearly a labor of love. I half wonder if they were made by the same company.
The set includes the eight original SF2 fighters, plus the four boss characters. It’s kind of sad that it doesn’t include the new challengers as well, but this is very much a toy for old school SF2 champs.
RYU has a bit of a Ralph Macchio look going for him, and strikes a badass flying kick pose.
KEN, as always, looks like a douche canoe, pumping his fist in celebration. He kinda resembles Owen Wilson.
CHUN LI shows off her trademark legs and sports a fashionable red Chinese dress. Her lips are a bit high, though.
E. HONDA appears to be eagerly awaiting a back massage.
GUILE is one of the best sculpts. His face is amazing and his beefy little arms are just precious.
ZANGIEF strikes a pro wrestling pose and looks a bit like an extra from Justified in the face.
DHALSIM is…eerie to say the least. His giant head gives me Kid Chameleon flashbacks.
BLANKA has a deformed base, so I had to perch him on top of the box to get a good look at his hilarious grin.
Despite being a chibi, BALROG’s face is utterly terrifying. This guy’s seen some shit, man. Stone cold killer.
VEGA is appropriately flamboyant, and his swirling waist sash is creatively utilized as his base, to make him look like hes flying through the air.
SAGAT is by far my favorite. Maybe it’s his cutesy muay thai kick pose, or maybe its his mean-ass pout. Hard to decide if he or Guile is best in show.
Last but not least, M. BISON strikes an Inframan pose as if he’s about to launch a fist missile. They even added his Shadoloo death’s head to his cap!
