In this non-awaited sequel to Castle Kagoshima, General Kosaka and his pirates, the 300 Phantoms, have overtaken Fort Hirogoshi. They plan to use Lord Hirogoshi’s new Dragon Fleet warships to wreak havoc on Nagasaki Harbor. Mata the Fox must infiltrate the fort, find three makeshift fuses and plant them in the powder magazines of all three ships. His mission will only be successful if he escapes before they blow.

A man claiming to be the son of legendary bandit Ishikawa Goemon has been arrested following a caravan robbery: he’s accused of stealing a shipment of gold from Lord Oda, and Oda’s minion Magistrate Ikoma has him locked up in a secret prison cell. Mata the Fox has been sent in to prevent Ikoma and Oda from torturing the gold out of Goemon: he must steal Ikoma’s official seal, Goemon’s release orders, and a guard’s uniform to trick Ikoma’s men into releasing the thief.

Boss Takeda has initiated an unholy alliance amongst the Takeda, Watanabe, Ichimonji, and Taira gangs, mainly because he can’t afford to keep fighting his rivals for territory much longer. To make the alliance official, he’s organized a party at his manor, and all the gang bosses are to attend.
